교만한 모압은 사용 가치가 없는 그릇처럼 하나님의 심판에 의해 철저히 부서집니다. 그럼에도 형벌의 시간이 다하면 예전의 평화로운 상태로 회복될 것입니다.

[ 예레미야 48:36 - 48:47 ] (찬송484장)

36그러므로 나의 마음이 모압을 위하여 피리 같이 소리 내며 나의 마음이 길헤레스 사람들을 위하여 피리 같이 소리 내나니 이는 그가 모은 재물이 없어졌음이라 37모든 사람이 대머리가 되었고 모든 사람이 수염을 밀었으며 손에 칼자국이 있고 허리에 굵은 베가 둘렸고 38모압의 모든 지붕과 거리 각처에서 슬피 우는 소리가 들리니 내가 모압을 마음에 들지 않는 그릇 같이 깨뜨렸음이라 여호와의 말씀이니라 39어찌하여 모압이 파괴되었으며 어찌하여 그들이 애곡하는가 모압이 부끄러워서 등을 돌렸도다 그런즉 모압이 그 사방 모든 사람의 조롱거리와 공포의 대상이 되리로다

 40이는 여호와의 말씀이니라 보라 그가 독수리 같이 날아와서 모압 위에 그의 날개를 펴리라 41성읍들이 점령을 당하며 요새가 함락되는 날에 모압 용사의 마음이 산고를 당하는 여인 같을 것이라 42모압이 여호와를 거슬러 자만하였으므로 멸망하고 다시 나라를 이루지 못하리로다

 43여호와의 말씀이니라 모압 주민아 두려움과 함정과 올무가 네게 닥치나니 44두려움에서 도망하는 자는 함정에 떨어지겠고 함정에서 나오는 자는 올무에 걸리리니 이는 내가 모압이 벌 받을 해가 임하게 할 것임이라 여호와의 말씀이니라 45도망하는 자들이 기진하여 헤스본 그늘 아래에 서니 이는 불이 헤스본에서 나며 불길이 시혼 가운데 나서 모압의 살쩍과 떠드는 자들의 정수리를 사름이로다 46모압이여 네게 화가 있도다 그모스의 백성이 망하였도다 네 아들들은 사로잡혀 갔고 네 딸들은 포로가 되었도다

 47그러나 내가 마지막 날에 모압의 포로를 돌려보내리라 여호와의 말씀이니라 모압의 심판이 여기까지니라

36Therefore my heart moans for Moab like a flute, and my heart moans like a flute for the men of Kir-hareseth. Therefore the riches they gained have perished.37 “For every head is shaved and every beard cut off. On all the hands are gashes, and around the waist is sackcloth.38 On all the housetops of Moab and in the squares there is nothing but lamentation, for I have broken Moab like a vessel for which no one cares, declares the LORD.39 How it is broken! How they wail! How Moab has turned his back in shame! So Moab has become a derision and a horror to all that are around him.”40 For thus says the LORD: “Behold, one shall fly swiftly like an eagle and spread his wings against Moab;41 the cities shall be taken and the strongholds seized. The heart of the warriors of Moab shall be in that day like the heart of a woman in her birth pains;42 Moab shall be destroyed and be no longer a people, because he magnified himself against the LORD.43 Terror, pit, and snare are before you, O inhabitant of Moab! declares the LORD.44 He who flees from the terror shall fall into the pit, and he who climbs out of the pit shall be caught in the snare. For I will bring these things upon Moab, the year of their punishment, declares the LORD.45 “In the shadow of Heshbon fugitives stop without strength, for fire came out from Heshbon, flame from the house of Sihon; it has destroyed the forehead of Moab, the crown of the sons of tumult.46 Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh are undone, for your sons have been taken captive, and your daughters into captivity.47 Yet I will restore the fortunes of Moab in the latter days, declares the LORD.” Thus far is the judgment on Moab.
