하나님은 바벨론을 심판의 도구로 사용하여 오랜 기간 이스라엘을 괴롭혀왔던 블레셋, 자신의 업적을 자랑하고 보물을 의지했던 모압을 심판하십니다.

[ 예레미야 47:1 - 48:10 ] (찬송414장)

1바로가 가사를 치기 전에 블레셋 사람에 대하여 선지자 예레미야에게 임한 여호와의 말씀이라

 2여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 보라 물이 북쪽에서 일어나 물결치는 시내를 이루어 그 땅과 그 중에 있는 모든 것과 그 성읍과 거기에 사는 자들을 휩쓸리니 사람들이 부르짖으며 그 땅 모든 주민이 울부짖으리라 3군마의 발굽 소리와 달리는 병거 바퀴가 진동하는 소리 때문에 아버지의 손맥이 풀려서 자기의 자녀를 돌보지 못하리니 4이는 블레셋 사람을 유린하시며 두로와 시돈에 남아 있는 바 도와 줄 자를 다 끊어 버리시는 날이 올 것임이라 여호와께서 갑돌 섬에 남아 있는 블레셋 사람을 유린하시리라 5가사는 대머리가 되었고 아스글론과 그들에게 남아 있는 평지가 잠잠하게 되었나니 네가 네 몸 베기를 어느 때까지 하겠느냐

 6오호라 여호와의 칼이여 네가 언제까지 쉬지 않겠느냐 네 칼집에 들어가서 가만히 쉴지어다 7여호와께서 이를 명령하셨은즉 어떻게 잠잠하며 쉬겠느냐 아스글론과 해변을 치려 하여 그가 정하셨느니라 하니라

 48:1모압에 관한 것이라 만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 오호라 느보여 그가 유린 당하였도다 기랴다임이 수치를 당하여 점령되었고 미스갑이 수치를 당하여 파괴되었으니 2모압의 찬송 소리가 없어졌도다 헤스본에서 무리가 그를 해하려고 악을 도모하고 이르기를 와서 그를 끊어서 나라를 이루지 못하게 하자 하는도다 맛멘이여 너도 조용하게 되리니 칼이 너를 뒤쫓아 가리라 3호로나임에서 부르짖는 소리여 황폐와 큰 파멸이로다 4모압이 멸망을 당하여 그 어린이들의 부르짖음이 들리는도다 5그들이 루힛 언덕으로 올라가면서 울고 호로나임 내리막 길에서 파멸의 고통스런 울부짖음을 듣는도다 6도망하여 네 생명을 구원하여 광야의 노간주나무 같이 될지어다

 7네가 네 업적과 보물을 의뢰하므로 너도 정복을 당할 것이요 그모스는 그의 제사장들과 고관들과 함께 포로되어 갈 것이라 8파멸하는 자가 각 성읍에 이를 것인즉 한 성읍도 면하지 못할 것이며 골짜기가 멸망하였으며 평지는 파멸되어 여호와의 말씀과 같으리로다 9모압에 날개를 주어 날아 피하게 하라 그 성읍들이 황폐하여 거기에 사는 자가 없으리로다

 10여호와의 일을 게을리 하는 자는 저주를 받을 것이요 자기 칼을 금하여 피를 흘리지 아니하는 자도 저주를 받을 것이로다

1The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck down Gaza.2 “Thus says the LORD: Behold, waters are rising out of the north, and shall become an overflowing torrent; they shall overflow the land and all that fills it, the city and those who dwell in it. Men shall cry out, and every inhabitant of the land shall wail.3 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his stallions, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of their wheels, the fathers look not back to their children, so feeble are their hands,4 because of the day that is coming to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper that remains. For the LORD is destroying the Philistines, the remnant of the coastland of Caphtor.5 Baldness has come upon Gaza; Ashkelon has perished. O remnant of their valley, how long will you gash yourselves?6 Ah, sword of the LORD! How long till you are quiet? Put yourself into your scabbard; rest and be still!7 How can it be quiet when the LORD has given it a charge? Against Ashkelon and against the seashore he has appointed it.”10 :1Concerning Moab. Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “Woe to Nebo, for it is laid waste! Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken; the fortress is put to shame and broken down;2 the renown of Moab is no more. In Heshbon they planned disaster against her: ‘Come, let us cut her off from being a nation!’ You also, O Madmen, shall be brought to silence; the sword shall pursue you.3 “A voice! A cry from Horonaim, ‘Desolation and great destruction!’4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have made a cry.5 For at the ascent of Luhith they go up weeping; for at the descent of Horonaim they have heard the distressed cry of destruction.6 Flee! Save yourselves! You will be like a juniper in the desert!7 For, because you trusted in your works and your treasures, you also shall be taken; and Chemosh shall go into exile with his priests and his officials.8 The destroyer shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape; the valley shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD has spoken.9 “Give wings to Moab, for she would fly away; her cities shall become a desolation, with no inhabitant in them.10 “Cursed is he who does the work of the LORD with slackness, and cursed is he who keeps  back his sword from bloodshed.
